11/11/01- It just keeps getting harder and harder for us, and more fun for the puppies. Ok, we are having fun too, but not as much as they are. What a life......sleep, play, play, PLAY!, eat, play, sleep! There is poop and pee in the middle quite a few times but I will spare you the horror. <grin> Our house smells a bit more than usual but they are sooooo cute it is worth it! They are also growing like weeds! Speaking of weeds, the backyard has been a virtual Disney Land, with weeds, plants, dirt and sticks being the ride of choice.
This weekend we personality tested them and tested them for hunting ability. All of the boys showed a lot of interest in the bird wings with Orange and Black leading the pack by a point or two. From 1 - 10, all the boys scored above a 7. Rainbow and Ms. white were the girls scoring the highest, with Purple, and silver not far behind. Yellow and Pink were slower to warm up to the strange smelling wing, but once they decided it was OK, chasing it was fun for awhile. All were very curious and intense with their fist encounter, some even went on point.
The personality tests showed characteristics we had already picked up on, but there were some surprises. In a nut shell, mostly 1's is a very dominant dog, 2's is dominant and self assured, however accepts human leadership, 3's Outgoing and friendly and adjusts well, 4 is easily controlled and has a submissive nature, 5's extremely submissive, and 6's independent and uninterested in people. You will be glad to know no one scored mostly 1's or mostly 6's. Most fell somewhere in-between with tendencies either way. However, some had variations which will add some depth to their personality.
All had some scores on certain tasks with more dominant characteristics (1-2) and some independent characteristics- 6's ) However, some had a majority in one or two numbers. Purple scored mostly 3's, Rainbow mostly 3's, Yellow between 3-4 (but did have some independent traits too), White mostly 3's, Pink between 2-3 (with some dependant traits too), and Silver scored mostly 3's. Orange scored equally 2's and 5's. This seems like a contradiction, but these tests are sometimes fickle. It is not the be all, end all of their personality. It is just a guide. I think I can interpret that score to mean -- sometimes he feels like taking the lead and sometimes he wants to chill. This seems to be pretty typical of him (sometimes I feel like a nut, sometimes I don't). Black scored between 2-3, Blue mostly 3's, Red mostly 3's, and Green between 2-3.
We did our best to take stacked pictures, but as you can guess it is not always easy to get a 7 week old puppy to stand like a show dog. Some of them turned out better than others due to the squirm factor. Click on the pictures for a larger view.
